I recently joined Sisters Rise – a very newly formed women’s organization founded by my friend Gabrielle Rivera, co-founded by my other friend Naama Givoni. Sisters Rise is dedicated to fighting for equality for all human beings, with a major focus on women, through both artwork and action. My first contribution was to create a poster for the women’s marches across the globe, which was available free for download on the Sisters Rise website, as well as on jointheuproar.com. I wanted create something super simple yet which also visually harkened back to both the feminist movement of the 60’s/70’s + the original Riot Grrrl movement of the 90’s. I thought the photocopied ladies finger I used in my “READ OR DIE” zine was a perfect fit and chose the phrase “RESPECT NOW,” as it was the most direct, universal and clear-cut I could think of. RESPECT is the one thing all human beings, regardless of gender, race, or sexual orientation seek. I think this word is synonymous with “love” and “equallity” – for myself, it bridges both of those ideas. My other designs will be available in my web shop and on the Sisters Rise website.
I just wanted to design a shirt that featured some of my favorite lyrics from one of my favorite songs, “Gimme Danger.” KISS ME LIKE THE OCEAN BREEZE is printed on the back. This shirt is boy cut but sized for women. Please contact me for purchase.
This is the second installment of my ‘CONCEALED ORIGIN’ zine series as it was based off of my mood board showcased in the first installment. This zine is 102 pages + hand cut with a metallic silver cover. I made this installment for similar reasons as the first – branding, self-promotion (something I’m horrible at otherwise), self-expression but most importantly – positive self-affirmation.
The concept of this zine is super simple – it represents my brain and all the things I often think about. Basically, if one were to open up my head and take a snapshot of what was going on in there – this zine is EXACTLY what it would look like. I call it “Read or Die” (or “THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING ELUSIVE”) because I often get frustrated when people won’t read my writing despite completely understanding why they won’t (I tend to be very lengthy). It’s just a difficult notion for me to swallow because all the heart of what I make lies in the writing. It’s something I often think about hence why it’s the title despite this particular zine actually containing very little text. This zine contains some of my personal history, as well, and a tribute to the lyrics of “All Along the Watchtower,” as this is the song that has had the most impact on my life. There are many references to my social/social media anxiety, too – as making zines is how I cope with this issue.
Since I don’t plan on printing many copies of my newest zine, I thought it would be a good idea to make some “mini” prints of some of my favorite pages. They are true to the size of the zine at 5″ x 5.” To purchase, please click on my shop link above.
“EXPELLED FROM PARADISE.”
My tribute to all the other former art school kids out there.
Don’t stay foolish.

“PYRAMID OF MYSTERY.”
The above image reads “SOCIETY DOES NOT WANT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE ALERT, KEEN, REVOLUTIONARY, BECAUSE SUCH INDIVIDUALS WILL NOT FIT INTO THE ESTABLISHED SOCIAL PATTERN AND THEY MAY BREAK IT UP. THAT IS WHY SOCIETY SEEKS TO HOLD YOUR MIND IN IT’S PATTERN, AND WHY YOUR SO-CALLED EDUCATION ENCOURAGES YOU TO IMITATE, TO FOLLOW, TO CONFORM.”
The youth will always choose No. 2.
The bottom line reads “NEVER UNDERESTIMATE.”
My personal Rosetta Stone.
“Life is a pure flame, and we live by an invisible sun within us.”
My take on a classic image.
The above print, as well as the “SAVAGE SUNS” print, displays a full font I designed which I named “ANGELES.”
As a graphic designer for clothing by trade, it has been a longtime goal of mine to start a line of t-shirts primarily for women. I decided to get myself in gear early this year and print up some designs. I am offering two shirts right now, but hope to have more in the future.
The first shirt is a cropped body and carries the phrase “WE BLEED TO WIN,” which is a U.S. (Vietnam) war cry that I thought was a more suitable slogan for women. I took photos of my friend Wazy modeling it for my product shots and the only direction I gave her was to have the stance of a soldier as I wanted the photos to represent all strong, rebellious, courageous, proud, smart, ambitious, etc, women and girls out there who are fighters. I think she looks great in it and I love her Rude Girl style. The second shirt is a boy cut (but women’s sized) body and has my venus eye design on it which you can read about HERE. It’s available in sizes S-L. I named it “KEEP YOUR ELECTRIC EYE ON ME, BABE” after the classic Bowie song “Moonage Daydream.” To purchase, please click on the shop link in the navigation bar.
I have just opened my Concealed Origin webshop and wanted to include more product than zines so I decided to make some 5″ X 7″ mini prints. Most of my selections are from my TRASH SOUNDZ zine, which contains my most personal art, and I have written a brief statement about the meaning of each piece in it’s item description. They are my truth and each print is stamped and signed on the back. I am also selling stickers and hand-painted t-shirts. To enter the shop click HERE.
I wanted to tell the story of our time (Los Angeles version) in 12 nuanced iPhone photos. I chose this particular rose-tinted filter and metallic champagne colored cover to represent L.A. exactly how I see it – as a metropolis of ‘glamour’ synched with garbage. Limited edition of 100.
As I was making ‘THE YOUTH WILL REMAIN RESTLESS,’ I painted several different versions of the same phrases thus I decided to make a companion piece a.k.a. ‘MIND RIOT.’ My only regret is that most of the neon words I painted ombre from pink to orange-red, but they will not photograph as such… c’est la vie. Nonetheless, this zine still one of my favorites + each cover is written by hand. Limited edition of 100.
SMASH BABYLON MIND CONTROL These excerpts are from my new zine exploring the concept of “backwards technology,” particularly in Los Angeles.
I got a little camera happy with my point-and-shoot (hence why this zine is so voluminous) when I visited the South Korean countryside, where my mother is from. Since the areas I visited were all fairly remote, I tried to focus solely on the simple beauties that tend to get overlooked in everyday life, as well as some of the idiosyncrasies of the South Korean country folk. Each cover is hand-painted and dyed + was designed to be a symbolic of the theme of the zine – the old world meeting the new in my camera lens. Limited edition of 100.
This is a very personal zine exploring the concept of ‘trash’ – emotional, literal and the idea of ‘taking out the trash to the man’ – through vignettes featuring my photography, collages and drawings. An epilogue speaking more in depth about the concept and title is included. It’s my sentimental favorite of all zines I’ve made thus the most special to my heart. Each cover is hand-dyed and unique. Limited edition of 100. Some excerpts…
I saw a need for a more unique venus symbol design, rather than a fist or heart, so I inserted an eye that I paint often to make this sticker. I suppose this is my personal version of an evil eye talisman. To me this design represents femininity combined with strength, power and pride. T-shirts coming soon.
My Father was a U.C. Berkeley professor (from 1959 – 1997) who became only the third tenured professor in the 128 year history of the University of California (all schools) to be fired… for whistleblowing and shouting about injustices. In my eyes he was a rebel, revolutionist, pioneer, heretic and great family man. This zine contains an outline of his life and beliefs through notes, correspondence and personal clippings. R.I.P. Dr. Wallace F. Smith. Limited edition of 100.

I was very specific about the phrases / words I chose for this piece – they had to be ones I felt either shackled somehow or carried the spirit to break chains. Limited edition of 100.
